Bodies That Naturally Regulated Themselves
I grew up in one of Greece's healthiest regions during the 1970s and 80s. Everyone around me—my great-grandparents, grandparents, their friends—maintained lean, healthy bodies into their 90s without counting calories, enduring punishing workouts, or battling constant cravings.
They ate whatever they wanted. Bread with every meal. Olive oil on everything. Wine regularly. They never measured portions. Never tracked macros. Never forced themselves to exercise. And they stayed naturally lean their entire lives.
At the time, I thought that's just how human bodies worked. It wasn't until I moved to America and entered the fitness industry in 1992 that I realized what I'd witnessed was remarkable—and increasingly rare.
